Professor Ladislav Dušek received the annual award from the Association of Social Service Providers, primarily for his contribution to the ELFis (End of Life Care Information System) project—an information system designed to help optimize social, health, and palliative care services.
The demand for long-term nursing, social, and social-health care will grow significantly in the coming years. By 2035, the number of people over the age of 80 will increase, and at the same time, the number of people with serious illnesses will rise significantly. It will be necessary to expand not only home and community-based services but also the capacity of residential care facilities. It is now possible to predict the need for and availability of social services more accurately thanks to the integration of the National Health Information System with data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, coordinated by the Institute of Health Information and Statistics, headed by Professor Ladislav Dušek, who is also the Head of the Institute of Biostatistics and Analyses at Masaryk University’s Faculty of Medicine (IBA).
A new research study by authors from the IBA at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, evaluated a prototype AI assistant based on educational and popular science content from the National Health Information Portal (NZIP) and showed that linking generative AI with verified health content can significantly enhance the credibility of the information provided.
Researchers from the IBA at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, achieved success at the 11th International Digital Public Health Conference 2026 in Barcelona. Graduate student Hlib Aleksandrenko and his advisor, Martin Komenda, received an award for the best scientific abstract.
